Memories of William

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of William, our Maine Coon cat.

He came to us as a gift from Dorothy Gilbert, Ruth's mother. In true Trojan horse fashion, we soon realized we got a lot more than we bargained for. His pompous, self-serving attitude let us know quickly that things would be done William's way. We all quickly acquiesced to gain his favor and obtain a cuddle.

Everyday became a mission to find the desired food and the right bedding. As he sauntered through the hospital we all did our best to complete our 2nd jobs as employees of Oak Tree Animal Hospital, knowing full well our primary goal was to keep William happy. Hand feeding and pleading became the norm. We did all this because he was such a unique and loving friend.

Tragically, a hidden virus began to attack his spinal cord leading to a progressive paralysis. Despite all our efforts, he was left incapacitated. We lost William on February 17th. In the face of his handicap, he maintained his royal bearing to the end.

As the official soul of Oak Tree, he will be greatly missed by all those who got to know him. May he rest in peace.
